CHCS is introducing a new module to help Members comply with legislation governing detergents in the European Union (EU) and Great Britain (GB). Northern Ireland follows EU regulation on detergents.
The module will be presented online, over two sessions and will be scheduled according to demand. A module is delivered by presentation and use of examples and exercises, facilitating an interactive learning experience. The first run of the module is expected to be delivered before the end of the year.
The CHCS Modular training programme has been successfully operating for a number of years. The curriculum is designed to help Members comply with the requirements of key chemical legislation and understand core concepts. A competitive fee is paid to Presenters of the modules and the deputies supporting them.
Content of the Module
The Module is expected to deliver the information required to cover key elements of the legislation, help delegates understand legal requirements and regulatory duties within this sector. The overlap and interaction with other EU/GB legislation should form part of the training module, as well as emerging legislation, as indicated below:
- European Regulation (EC) No 648/2004
- Planned changes regulating detergents and surfactants, amending Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 and repealing Regulation (EC) No 648/2004
- Overlap with other legislation e.g. CLP, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on the classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures regulation
- Associated legislation e.g. Regulation (EU) 2024/1781 establishing a framework for the setting of ecodesign requirements for sustainable products
- Transposition of the EU Detergents Regulation into Great Britain
- Divergence issues between EU and GB legislation
Note: The Presenter is expected to prepare promotional materials for the website/email content, as well as updating training materials, as required.
How to apply
Presenters: If you are interested in delivering this Module, please submit your CV, a covering letter including relevant experience, and an outline of the Module you would present to enquiries@chcs.org.uk, indicating an estimate of the time required to prepare the module and proposed exercises for delegates to complete. A fee for writing the complete module will be paid to the successful candidate, which will be presented on the CHCS template and remain the intellectual property of CHCS.
Deputies: Please submit your CV and a covering letter including relevant experience to enquiries@chcs.org.uk. The deputy will be expected to deliver the module, in the unlikely event that the presenter is unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances. The deputy must therefore possess the necessary knowledge and skills to undertake the role. Deputies are also expected to assist presenters with practical exercises, and in consolidating the learning experience. They are not expected to present the module, outside of the presenter being unexpectedly unavailable.
All CHCS Modules are delivered in English. Applicants must therefore have a good command of the English language.
Applications will be reviewed by CHCS against the eligibility criteria. All personal information provided will be handled in accordance GDPR requirements.
Applicants that are short listed for interview will be asked to deliver a short presentation on the topic.
