    Webinar Overview

    CHCS is pleased to announce that Denese Deeds will present a webinar covering the United States (US), Code of Federal Regulations, Title 49 covering transportation. CFR49 is issued by the Departments of Transportation and Homeland Security, federal agencies of the United States regarding transportation and transportation-related security.

    Denese will cover the following points during the webinar:

      • Brief history of hazardous materials (hazmat) regulations in the United States;
      • The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), the United States Regulatory Agency;
      • Structure of Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR);
      • Free access to the HMR
      • Main Differences in US vs UN Model Regulations and ADR
      • Class 2 – Aerosols
      • Class 3 – Flammable Liquids
      • Class 9 – Hazardous Substances and US Marine Pollutants
      • Exceptions – Classes 3, 8 and Limited Quantities

    The webinar will be followed by a brief Q&A session.

        Our Presenter

    Denese A. Deeds, CIH
    Denese Deeds is co-founder of IHSC, LLC IHSC, LLC (ih-sc.com), where she is the Director of Chemical Regulatory Services. In that function, she prepares safety data sheets (SDS), labels and other hazard communication documents and assists companies with overall chemical regulatory compliance. Prior to founding IHSC, she worked as an industrial hygienist for General Electric and Westinghouse.

    Denese is active on the AIHA Stewardship and Sustainability Committee and served on the team that developed the SDS and Label Author Registry. She is an AIHA Fellow, a past president of the Society for Chemical Hazard Communication (SCHC), a SDS and Label Authoring Registered Specialist, the 2014 recipient of the AIHA Alice Hamilton Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award by SCHC in 2016. Denese is a certified Industrial Hygienist, and also serves as a delegate to the GHS Subcommittee of Experts on the GHS for DGAC.

    Webinar Chair
    This webinar will be chaired by Caroline Raine who runs Caroline Raine Chemical Consultancy Limited. Caroline is a chemical legislation expert, with experience of interpreting and implementing legislation relating to hazardous chemicals. The knowledge Caroline has of legislation is wide ranging, covering both supply and transport legislation. Caroline is the Chair of the CHCS Member Services Committee and sits on the CHCS Council.

    Who Should Attend?
    The webinar will be of interest to organisations that are involved with or planning to be involved in the supply of products to the United States, particularly related to transportation. It will also be relevant to Members, who would like to understand differences between US and the United Nations (UN) Model Regulations and ADR, and anyone interested in the United States Code of Federal Regulations related to transport.
