Module 4, Poison Centre Notification
Meeting the requirements of CLP Annex VIII: how, what, where, when, and to whom
Annex VIII to CLP
The regulation concerning the classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP Regulation) (EC Regulation 1272/2008) was amended on 22 March 2017 when EU Commission Regulation 2017/542 was published.
This long-anticipated piece of legislation added a new Annex (Annex VIII) to CLP on harmonised information relating to the provision of information for emergency health response.
The regulation describes the information and format required to be notified and also introduces a new requirement to print a Unique Formula Identifier (UFI) on mixture labels.
This training will cover:
- What needs to be notified
- The deadlines
- Information required in the notification
- Unique Formula Identifier (UFI)
- Mixture in mixtures (MIM)
- Group Submissions
- Reduced submission
- Updates to submissions
- Notify to Whom
- Tools:
-
- XML format
- UFI Generator
- EU Product Categorisation System (EU PCS)
- ECHA submission portal
- Member State Implementation
Practical sessions will take you through completing a notification in the portal.
By the end of this session you will be able to make notifications using the new harmonised approach in the ECHA portal.
Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland will follow the EU harmonised format, an Annex VIII dossier should be created and submitted to the NPIS.

Module Presentation
We will deliver this training using online presentation software, which we have used successfully for other CHCS events and training. You can use the software, free-of-charge on Windows, Macs, smartphones and tablets.
The sessions will run live and delegates can interact with the tutor and other delegates using their device microphone. The tutor will use a PowerPoint presentation, just as they would in face-to-face training. We will provide you with copies of the presentation and all other supporting documentation in advance of the training, by email.
Participants will need to have access to a REACH-IT account. (i.e. a laptop or tablet will be required).
If you do not have a REACH-IT account we suggest setting one up, otherwise you can have access by letting the office and Caroline know in advance.
