Webinar: Overview of the Key Labelling Changes Proposed Under CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 & The Challenges These Pose for the Chemical Industry

    Webinar Overview

This webinar will provide an overview of the key changes to EU chemical labelling, proposed under the revised Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Chemicals (CLP) regulation, including:

    • Obligatory formatting rules for labels
    • Implications for the wider use of booklet labels
    • Voluntary partial digital labelling
    • Challenges faced by chemical companies under the new proposal

On 19th December 2022, the European Commission proposed a revision to the Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Chemicals (CLP) regulations and introduced five new hazard classes for endocrine disruptors and other harmful substances. However, it is the proposed changes to label formatting under the proposal that could have far wider implications for much of the chemical industry.

These proposed amendments, aimed at improving the communication of chemical hazards, include significant changes such as minimal font sizes and changes to the layout of labels.

The introduction of these new labelling requirements would mean that chemical manufacturers and distributors would need to update the labels on their packaging when selling chemicals on the EU market and the implementation of these proposed measures could have a major impact on label production in the chemical industry.

During this webinar we will take a closer look at the key details of the proposed CLP label changes and offer insights into the potential risks of a broader use of booklet labels and digital labelling and the challenges these could pose for companies facing the prospect of increased labelling obligations.
