Module 4, Poison Centre Notification
Meeting the requirements of CLP Annex VIII: how, what, where, when, and to whom
Closing Date For Registrations: 23 November 2020 (midnight)
Annex VIII to CLP
The regulation concerning the classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP Regulation) (EC Regulation 1272/2008) was amended on 22 March 2017 when EU Commission Regulation 2017/542 was published.
This long-anticipated piece of legislation added a new Annex (Annex VIII) to CLP on harmonised information relating to the provision of information for emergency health response.
The regulation describes the information required to be notified and also introduces a new requirement to print a Unique Formula Identifier (UFI) on mixture labels.
This one-day training session will cover:
- What needs to be notified
- The deadlines
- Information required in the notification
- Unique Formula Identifier (UFI)
- Mixture in mixtures (MIM)
- Group Submissions
- Reduced submission
- Updates to submissions
- Notify to Whom
- XML format
- UFI Generator
- EU Product Categorisation System (EU PCS)
- ECHA submission portal
- Member State Implementation
Practical sessions will take you through completing a notification in the portal.
By the end of this session you will be able to make notifications using the new harmonised approach in the ECHA portal.
What You Will Learn
This module aims to provide practical information on how to complete your Poison Centre obligations and notifications.
Benefits Of Attending?
Attendance on this series of modules will ensure that you meet the increasing expectations of both your customers and the regulators. To ensure the most effective training with optimum involvement in participative exercises, there will be a limit of 16 on the number of students.
IOSH members are entitled to include this module in their continuing professional development (CPD) records.
This module will be presented by Caroline Raine. Caroline is a chemical legislation expert, with experience of interpreting and implementing EU legislation relating to hazardous chemicals. The knowledge Caroline has of legislation is wide ranging, covering both supply and transport legislation. Caroline has been participating in the working groups on Poison Centres with ECHA and has an excellent understanding of the forthcoming requirements. Caroline is also a Council member of the CHCS.
The requirement to notify to Poison Centres will still be a legal requirement in the EU although it is likely that notifications to the UK will remain voluntary.
We will deliver this training using online presentation software, which we have used successfully for other CHCS events and training. You can use the software, free-of-charge on Windows, Macs, smartphones and tablets.
The sessions will run live and delegates can interact with the tutor and other delegates using their device microphone. The tutor will use a PowerPoint presentation, just as they would in face-to-face training. We will provide you with copies of the presentation and all other supporting documentation in advance of the training, by email.
